The United Empire Loyalists were inhabitants of the rebellious American colonies who chose to leave in order to go on living under King and Crown. When they arrived in the old Town of York, they went about becoming some of the first families of the provincial capital. But there was some bias against them, too. This talk tells the story of the first wave of migrants to populate Toronto.
